Casio America, Inc. has launched the Digital Basic GDB500 series, incorporating advanced sensor technology into a stylish and compact watch design. The series is designed to offer essential functionalities like a step tracker and Bluetooth connectivity, catering to the needs of fitness enthusiasts who also value fashion.
The GDB500 series features a unique octagonal watch face and a sleek case profile, available in neon green, gray, black, and white. These watches combine the classic G-SHOCK durability with a modern aesthetic, offering a new look for the collection.
The watches are designed with an angular shape to minimize interference with the wrist’s movement, and the digital LCD is arranged in a three-tiered display layout within a lightweight structure. The adjustable band, suitable for wrist sizes from 145 to 200 mm, ensures a comfortable fit for a wide range of users.
This series introduces a novel construction where the bezel, case, and band connectors are integrated, enhancing the structural integrity of the watches. This design not only maintains G-SHOCK’s renowned durability but also harmonizes the structural elements with the overall aesthetic.
The GDB500 models include a built-in motion-sensing accelerometer for tracking steps and monitoring daily activity levels. The watches also feature a glass fiber-reinforced resin case for added durability and shock resistance, suitable for daily wear. Additionally, the Bluetooth capability allows for automatic time correction linked to a smartphone.
Key features of the GDB500 series include shock resistance, water resistance up to 200 meters, a two-year battery life, an auto LED backlight, dual time display, five daily alarms, a 1/100-second stopwatch, and a 24-hour countdown timer. The GDB500-1 and GDB500-7 models are priced at $120, while the GDB500S-3 and GDB500S-8 are available for $130. These watches can be purchased at select retailers, through gshock.com, and at the G-SHOCK Soho store.
