B&H has announced the release of updated versions of RED’s V-Raptor and Komodo cinema cameras, now featuring locking Nikon Z-mounts. This marks the first hardware collaboration between RED Digital Cinema and Nikon since Nikon’s acquisition of RED last year.
The Komodo-X Z Mount 6K Digital Cinema Camera includes a 19.9MP Super 35 global shutter CMOS sensor and a reinforced locking Nikon Z lens mount. It supports video resolutions up to 6K at 80 frames per second and 4K at 120 frames per second. The camera is equipped with various connectivity options, including 12G-SDI and USB-C, as well as a 2.9-inch touchscreen interface.
The V-Raptor X 8K VV camera features a global shutter and a full-frame VistaVision-sized sensor. Previously available with a locking RF-mount, it is now offered with a locking Z-mount. Buyers can choose to purchase the camera individually or as part of a Production Pack or Starter Pack, which includes additional accessories. A Z-Mount Conversion Kit is also available for owners of existing V-Raptor bodies.
The Komodo-X 6K camera, which also features a global shutter and a Super 35 sensor, will now be available with a Z-mount variant. Similar purchasing options are provided, including a Power Zoom Pack that includes a Nikon NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ lens designed for video applications.
Additionally, B&H is offering Z-to-PL mount adapters compatible with both the V-Raptor and Komodo-X cameras. These adapters support lens communication and record triggering and are available in standard configurations or with electronic neutral density filters, allowing for adjustable ND settings. This expansion of product offerings aims to enhance the versatility and functionality of RED’s cinema cameras.
