Nosotros Tequila and Mezcal, a brand known for its commitment to transparency and sustainable industry practices, has officially joined the Additive Free Alliance (AFA). This move aligns with the brand’s long-standing dedication to producing premium agave spirits without the use of additives.
Nosotros Tequila and Mezcal’s entry into the AFA follows a recent update from Tequila Matchmaker founder Grover Sanschagrin, who announced changes to the certification process. Under the new guidelines, brands can now achieve and maintain additive-free certification through rigorous lab testing instead of requiring distillery visits. This update has allowed Nosotros to gain official membership in the AFA, overcoming previous challenges related to distillery privacy practices that had prevented their participation.
Carlos Soto, founder of Nosotros Tequila, emphasized the importance of this development. He noted that the lab-based verification process has allowed the brand to undergo thorough testing while upholding their commitment to transparency. Soto stated that this certification enables Nosotros to continue providing a clean, low aldehyde tasting experience to their customers, further enhancing their reputation for producing high-quality, additive-free spirits.
The AFA’s emphasis on transparency has fostered a movement among Tequila producers who are dedicated to creating tequila in its most natural form. Grover Sanschagrin, now the board president of Additive Free Alliance, Inc., highlighted that the goal of the AFA is to promote transparency in product labeling, which resonates with both producers and consumers alike.
