The Op Games has officially launched Monopoly: One Piece Edition, a new board game that brings the beloved anime and manga series, One Piece, into the realm of tabletop gaming. This launch is in celebration of the 25th anniversary of One Piece and is licensed by Hasbro, a leader in the toy and game industry.
In this special edition of Monopoly, players dive into the world of Dressrosa, one of the famed arcs of the One Piece series. The game involves players dividing into three teams: the Factory Destruction & Samurai Rescue Team, the Ceasar Delivery Team, and the Thousand Sunny Guard Team. Participants can buy, sell, and trade well-known characters from the series, such as Franky, Kinemon, Fighting Bull, and Leo, aiming to build the most formidable team to dominate the game.
The custom-designed gameboard features the Straw Hat Crew and includes nine special tokens representing iconic characters like Monkey D. Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Robin, and Brook. Dane Chapin, CEO of The Op, expressed excitement about bringing this long-standing series to board game fans and noted the significance of connecting generations of One Piece enthusiasts through this new game.
Suitable for two to six players aged eight and above, Monopoly: One Piece Edition incorporates Chest (Community Chest) and Flag (Chance) cards that add layers of strategy and unpredictability, mimicking the adventurous spirit of the anime. These cards can reward players for battles against villains or introduce unexpected twists that enhance the gaming experience. The goal is to assemble the strongest team and collect game money styled after the series’ Beri currency to win.
Bradley Bowman, Senior Director at Hasbro, remarked on the honor of integrating such an iconic series into their product lineup, emphasizing the broad appeal to One Piece, anime, Monopoly, and pop culture fans alike.
