Original Penguin is celebrating its 70th anniversary with the launch of a limited-edition capsule collection inspired by seven decades of mid-century style and its iconic Pete the Penguin mascot. The brand’s new line pays homage to the original Earl Polo and other archival designs, reimagining classic silhouettes with vibrant color palettes and unique fabric textures that reflect the optimism of the era.
“For 70 years, we’ve prided ourselves on our rich heritage that served as a foundation for our design philosophy of self-expression and having fun,” said Oscar Feldenkreis, CEO of Perry Ellis International. “We’ve always called on our guy to be an original, and we’re thrilled to celebrate a long legacy of that tradition.”
The anniversary collection features updated versions of the brand’s most recognisable pieces—polo shirts, lightweight jackets and knitwear—each sporting refreshed graphics, bold stripes and a modern take on Pete the Penguin. Energetic hues and contrasting materials evoke the playful spirit of the 1950s and ’60s while remaining true to Original Penguin’s reputation for quality and versatility.
“While we are a cherished American heritage brand, Original Penguin was founded on fabric innovation,” added Creative Director Michael Miille. “We look forward to pushing the boundaries of our designs in terms of fun, color, detail and retro expression. We will continue to innovate across every category in ways that feel authentic to our heritage of originality.”
The anniversary capsule is available now at select retailers and online, inviting fans old and new to join in the celebration of seven decades of confident, timeless style.
