Overtime has announced a partnership with The Pokémon Company International to create a unique collaboration that merges sports, pop culture, and entertainment. This initiative will feature custom-designed jerseys for all eight Overtime Elite teams, set to debut during the Pokémon Playoffs starting February 18th. Additionally, a lifestyle collection will be launched on Pokémon Day, February 27th, coinciding with the annual celebration of the Pokémon franchise.
The jerseys will incorporate popular Pokémon characters and design elements that align with the identities of the Overtime Elite teams. This collaboration aims to provide fans with the opportunity to represent their teams in both athletic and casual settings. The partnership will be showcased at the OTE Arena, which will feature customized LED displays and Pokémon-themed referee uniforms during the playoffs. Live appearances by Pokémon characters Pikachu and Gengar are also scheduled for the launch day of the collection.
The lifestyle collection will include various apparel items such as shorts, hoodies, activewear, and pajamas, which will be available exclusively online at the Overtime shop starting at 9 AM ET on February 27th. Overtime’s Founder and CEO, Dan Porter, expressed that this collaboration is a means to engage their audience and connect them with the teams and brands they appreciate. He noted the longstanding success of the Pokémon brand and its innovative approach to maintaining fan interest.
Amy Sachtleben, senior director of licensing and promotions at The Pokémon Company International, highlighted the shared objectives of both brands in leading pop culture and creating engaging content. She emphasized Overtime’s proficiency in reaching younger audiences as a significant factor in their partnership.
This collaboration represents an intersection of gaming, sports, and lifestyle, reflecting the evolving interests of fans. Both Overtime and Pokémon are committed to delivering authentic experiences, and this partnership aims to celebrate the fusion of these two cultural realms. By combining basketball with the Pokémon universe, the collaboration seeks to foster a new cultural expression for fans of both entities.
