Pepsi and Regal have partnered to create an immersive experience, “The Pepsi COLAsseum,” at Regal Times Square in New York City to celebrate the upcoming release of Gladiator II, which premieres on Friday, November 22. This special event, available for a limited time starting Tuesday, November 19, brings the atmosphere of ancient Rome’s Colosseum “hypogeum” to life for fans, offering a glimpse into the historical world depicted in the film.
Attendees at The Pepsi COLAsseum will have a chance to engage in various activities inspired by the Roman Empire, such as personalizing leather accessories with Roman names, trading coins for themed snacks and drinks, and enjoying breakdancing and slam poetry performances set against an ancient Roman backdrop. Fans can also explore authentic Gladiator II costumes and props, try on virtual costumes through augmented reality, and participate in trivia led by “philosophers” at the event. The experience culminates in a screening of Gladiator II in Regal Times Square’s 4DX auditorium, equipped with motion-enabled seats and environmental effects for an immersive viewing.
Scott Finlow, PepsiCo’s Chief Marketing Officer for Global Away From Home, expressed excitement for the event, aiming to offer fans a unique way to celebrate the long-awaited Gladiator sequel. John Curry, Senior Vice President of Commercial at Regal, highlighted how the partnership combines the cinematic elements of Regal with Pepsi’s brand engagement, bringing a historical-themed movie experience to modern audiences.
Directed by Ridley Scott, Gladiator II follows Lucius, played by Paul Mescal, as he seeks justice and redemption in a Colosseum that mirrors the grandeur of ancient Rome. The film also stars Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Connie Nielsen, and Denzel Washington, with a screenplay by David Scarpa.
