PetSmart is sweetening the deal for people who adopt through PetSmart Charities inside its stores. New pet parents can now elevate to VIPP, the highest tier of the Treats Rewards program, unlocking richer points earn and extra benefits tied to everyday pet spending.
The move is framed as a celebration of adoption and a practical nudge to support new routines. “We’re giving new pet parents the savings and benefits of the highest tier level in our Treats Rewards program,” said Bradley Breuer, PetSmart’s vice president of marketing.
What VIPP includes for adopters
- 40% more points per dollar to redeem on future savings
- 2x Treats Rewards points on two shopping trips of your choice
- 2x Treats Rewards points on donations to PetSmart Charities
- A free VIPP holiday gift
- Members-only perks such as free shipping on select $49+ orders, in-store member pricing, and a birthday or Gotcha Day gift for your pet
Adopters also receive an Adoption Kit coupon book worth up to $400 to help stock up on food, toys, and supplies.
PetSmart does not sell cats or dogs, instead partnering with thousands of local shelters and rescues to host adoptions in nearly all stores. Through ongoing events like PetSmart Charities National Adoption Week and Adopt Joy, the retailer says a pet is adopted at PetSmart every 41 seconds, with more than 11 million placements to date.
