Remus Bourbon, produced by Ross & Squibb Distillery, has announced the introduction of the Remus Bourbon Master Distiller Experimental Series. This new series originated from an unexpected outcome of a barrel experiment conducted in 2015, which resulted in a unique whiskey. Master Distiller Ian Stirsman has decided to release this whiskey as Master Distiller Experimental Series No. 1, making it available to the public.

The Master Distiller Experimental Series aims to provide Stirsman with the opportunity to explore various grains, recipes, and maturation methods, leading to the creation of bourbons with distinctive characteristics and refined flavor profiles. Each release in this series will be limited in availability, appealing to collectors and whiskey enthusiasts.

Stirsman stated, “The Experimental Series is our new creative playground, where distilling heritage meets bold innovation. Our goal is to make our chapter in the long legacy of Remus Bourbon one that’s worth reading. I look forward to bringing something new to bourbon drinkers year after year.”

The first release, Master Distiller Experimental Series No. 1, has been aged for nine years in lightly charred, heavily toasted Seguin Moreau barrels, with staves that have been seasoned for 24 months. This bourbon is bottled at 107 proof and presents aromas of cedar, port wine, and fig. On the palate, it offers flavors of oak, toasted marshmallow, and chocolate, concluding with hints of candied pecans, black walnut, and leather.
