Russell’s Reserve has introduced the latest release in its Single Rickhouse Collection, Single Rickhouse 2024 – Camp Nelson B, marking the third installment of the series. This highly anticipated bourbon, featuring the highest proof in the Russell’s Reserve portfolio to date at 120.2, follows the 2022 and 2023 releases of Camp Nelson C and Camp Nelson F. The Single Rickhouse Collection highlights the influence of specific aging locations on the final character of the whiskey, with each release crafted from rare stocks sourced from a single rickhouse.
Camp Nelson B, built in 1946, is a seven-floor rickhouse benefiting from higher elevation and greater sun exposure compared to previous releases. These conditions contribute to the whiskey’s distinctive oaky profile and high proof point. The barrels for this release were selected from the warmer sixth floor, where the climate enhances the whiskey’s rich, dark honey and char notes.
Master Distiller Eddie Russell emphasized the importance of location in shaping the flavor of whiskey, stating that the unique environment of Camp Nelson B played a key role in developing this bourbon’s character. The final product is non-chill filtered and bottled at barrel proof, offering a complex profile with aromas of oak, vanilla, fruit cake, and floral notes. The taste features robust flavors of cherry, raisin, and dark honey, alongside herbal hints of clove and spearmint, with a long, spicy finish of mature oak and pepper.
Russell’s Reserve Single Rickhouse Camp Nelson B is available for a limited time at select U.S. retailers and at the Wild Turkey Distillery Visitor Center, with a suggested retail price of $300 for a 750 ML bottle.
