In observance of World Water Day, Moen has introduced the Hot Water Savings Handheld, a new showerhead designed to significantly reduce water consumption during showers. This product aims to decrease water usage by over one-third when its technology is activated, potentially saving up to 5,500 gallons of water annually.
The Hot Water Savings Handheld features a mechanism that allows users to conserve water with a simple push of a button. Caroline Silva, senior category manager for custom showering at Moen, stated, “We’ve all had mornings where we turned on the cold shower and then lost track of time while waiting for the water to turn hot. This is an unnecessary depletion of resources and a reminder of how our daily routines impact the environment.” The device is designed to provide a warm shower experience without excessive water use.
To utilize the showerhead, users must turn the handle to the “hot” position and press the CONSERVE button. As the water heats up, the flow reduces to a trickle once it reaches 95°F, maintaining warmth while minimizing water waste. Users can revert to normal flow when ready to shower. The product also meets EPA WaterSense criteria, reinforcing its water-saving capabilities.
In addition to its eco-friendly features, the Hot Water Savings Handheld includes five spray settings and utilizes Moen’s Magnetix technology, which allows for easy docking and undocking of the handheld showerhead. The dock is constructed from recycled ocean plastic, contributing to its sustainable profile. The design of the showerhead is geometric, enhancing the overall appearance of the bathroom.
The introduction of the Hot Water Savings Handheld aligns with efforts to promote water conservation, particularly on World Water Day, encouraging users to adopt more sustainable practices in their daily lives.
