Houston-based Shipley Do-Nuts has announced the introduction of a new product called “YAYs,” which are mini beignets inspired by the traditional New Orleans pastry. These items will be available for a limited time until early April. The YAYs are made from Shipley’s signature yeast dough, fried, and served warm after being coated in powdered sugar. Customers can purchase them in various quantities: four for $2, twelve for $5, and twenty-four for $10 at select locations.
The launch of YAYs coincides with the Carnival season, which culminates in Mardi Gras, and aims to bring a taste of New Orleans to customers in the region. Shipley Do-Nuts has noted the popularity of beignets at several of their locations, which stretch from Houston to New Orleans. According to Kaitlyn Venable, the Director of Culinary at Shipley, the introduction of YAYs is a fitting tribute to the connection between the two cities, as Houston is often referred to as New Orleans’ sister city.
Additionally, Shipley Do-Nuts has made a promotional offer for its Do-Happy Rewards members, allowing them to receive a complimentary order of four YAYs with any purchase of $5 or more until February 10. Furthermore, the company has added Bacon, Egg & Cheese kolaches to its permanent menu after their success as a limited-time offering.
