Sony Electronics Inc today announced the WH-1000XM6 wireless noise cancelling headphones, the latest model in its award winning 1000X series. Powered by a next generation HD noise cancelling processor QN3 and twelve microphones, the new headphones deliver highly accurate, adaptive cancellation in any environment. Adaptive NC Optimizer automatically adjusts to external noise and air pressure, while auto ambient sound mode balances music and surrounding audio in real time via the companion app.

Co developed with mastering engineers at Sterling Sound, Battery Studios and Coast Mastering, the WH-1000XM6 offer studio level clarity through a specially tuned driver unit and a high rigidity carbon fiber composite dome. Support for high resolution audio and LDAC streaming combines with DSEE Extreme upscaling to restore details lost in compression. An AI beamforming call system isolates the user’s voice from background noise and an instant mute touch control adds convenience.

The ergonomic design features a wider synthetic leather headband, stretchable earpads for all day comfort and a metal injection fold mechanism for easy portability. Scene based listening uses sensing technology to adjust playback and noise cancelling based on activity and location, while multi point connectivity and low energy audio support seamless device switching.

With up to 30 hours of battery life and three hours of playback from just three minutes of charging, the WH-1000XM6 keep pace with long trips. They arrive alongside Sony’s For The Music campaign and come in paper packaging made from bamboo, sugarcane fibres and recycled materials.
