The Oreo brand, in collaboration with Lucasfilm, has announced the release of special edition Star Wars Oreo cookies. These cookies come in two versions, each featuring unique packaging but containing a single color creme representing either the dark side or the light side of the Force. The exact side remains unknown to fans until the pack is opened, adding an element of surprise.
Each pack of the special edition Star Wars Oreo cookies includes different embossments of characters from the dark and light sides, with corresponding red or blue creme. The creme is infused with sugar crystals inspired by the kyber crystals found in a lightsaber. Characters on the cookies include Darth Vader, Darth Maul, and a stormtrooper for the dark side, and Luke Skywalker, Yoda, and Princess Leia for the light side. There are 10 characters per pack, making a total of 20 characters across both varieties.
Nicole Fischer, Senior Brand Manager for Oreo in the US, noted that the collaboration aimed to blend two beloved communities and enhance the brand’s cultural relevance. Fischer expressed hope that fans would appreciate the effort put into bringing their favorite stories to life and enjoy discovering the details included in the product.
In addition to the cookies, the packaging features original artwork by Greg Hildebrandt, a well-known Star Wars poster artist since 1977. This artwork serves as a tribute to the franchise and adds to the thematic experience of the special edition packs.
The new Star Wars Oreo cookie packs will be available for presale starting May 30 at Oreo.com/StarWars and will start appearing at retailers nationwide on June 10. These packs will be available for a limited time, while supplies last.
