Jel Sert and Crayola have introduced a limited-edition Banana Mango freezer bar developed by eight students from Wegner Elementary School in West Chicago. The flavor appears alongside Berry Punch, Lemon Lime, Strawberry, Orange, and Grape in new packs of Fla-Vor-Ice freezer bars. The collaboration marks the temporary return of Crayola’s Dandelion color, retired in 2017, and is intended to link the crayon’s “adventurous” persona with a summer fruit profile.

The product is sold in 200-, 96-, and 20-count assortments, all fat free, and is available through Amazon, Sam’s Club, and other national retailers. Jel Sert, which has manufactured freezer bars for nearly a century, handled formulation and production while inviting students to work with its food scientists to test ideas in the company’s research facility.

Each package includes a code for a complimentary two-month trial of Crayola Create and Play, a children’s app that offers digital art tools and games. The on-pack promotion is valid until March 31, 2027.

Jel Sert’s senior vice president of marketing, Amy Pagels, said the initiative reflects the company’s ability to involve consumers directly in product development, while Crayola’s head of partnerships, Anna Roca, described the project as a way to demonstrate how color can inspire new applications in food products. Pricing details were not disclosed.
