Subaru of America, Inc. has introduced its latest model, the 2026 Subaru Trailseeker, at the New York International Auto Show. This marks the company’s second all-electric SUV, featuring a new propulsion system while maintaining the brand’s established Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and safety features. The Trailseeker is expected to be available for purchase at retailers across the country in 2026.
The name Trailseeker reflects the SUV’s capability, boasting 8.3 inches of ground clearance and ample passenger and cargo space. The vehicle is equipped with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, powered by two electric motors positioned on the front and rear axles, producing approximately 375 horsepower and enabling a towing capacity of up to 3,500 pounds. The Trailseeker includes an X-MODE Dual-Mode System with Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud Modes, along with Grip Control and Downhill Assist Control, making it suitable for various terrains.
The Trailseeker is powered by a 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery, offering a range of over 260 miles on a single charge. It features an onboard battery preconditioning system that prepares the vehicle for fast charging in different temperatures, and a standard NACS charging port enhances charging options on the go.
Subaru engineers have developed a unique suspension and all-wheel-drive system for the Trailseeker, which improves stability and control on diverse surfaces. The vehicle uses acceleration sensors to adapt to dynamic loads during acceleration, braking, and turning, ensuring optimal traction.
Compared to the Solterra, the Trailseeker is over 6 inches longer and nearly an inch taller, providing increased cargo space. It includes standard raised roof rails for additional carrying capacity. The design incorporates a new Subaru EV lighting signature, redesigned headlamps, and a distinctive rear lighting presence.
Inside, the Trailseeker features a 14-inch touchscreen, the largest in any Subaru model, along with metallic finishes that enhance the interior design. The cabin offers a flat floor and ample legroom, contributing to a spacious atmosphere.
The standard multimedia system provides wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, along with wireless smartphone chargers and fast USB-C ports for rear-seat passengers. All models come equipped with EyeSight driver-assistance technologies, which include various safety features aimed at enhancing driver and passenger security.
Further details on pricing and specifications will be announced closer to the vehicle’s launch in early 2026.
