The Original Crumbs Bakeshop has brought its bakery magic back to grocery aisles with the launch of the CRUMBS Colossal Cupcake, a 60-ounce party-sized treat now available at Kroger stores in 22 states. Co-founders Jason and Mia Bauer, who famously repurchased the company for just $350 in 2022 after selling it in 2012, designed the Colossal to deliver celebration-ready quality without the need for a specialty bakery.
Each Colossal Cupcake comes in Vanilla Birthday Cake or Cookies & Cream. The Vanilla Birthday Cake features classic confetti cake with a hidden sprinkle-filled center and a thick layer of vanilla frosting topped with rainbow sprinkles. The Cookies & Cream option offers rich chocolate cake filled with cookies-and-cream buttercream and crowned with vanilla buttercream and cookie pieces. Both flavors serve an entire gathering and are engineered to create a viral-worthy moment as slices reveal their piñata-style surprise.
Mia Bauer explains that moving into supermarkets aligns with the brand’s goal of making premium treats more accessible to local communities, allowing shoppers to pick up showstopping desserts alongside everyday groceries. Jason Bauer adds that the Colossal Cupcake offers a unique last-minute celebration option that stands out from traditional sheet or layer cakes and sparks conversation at any event.
The colossal cupcakes are stocked in the bakery section of The Kroger Co. Family of Stores across 22 states. Enthusiasts can expect to see Crumbs continue its expansion into supermarket dessert aisles with more innovation to come.
