Americans are taking their summer drink game seriously, with a new national survey timed for National Iced Tea Month revealing that many households now dedicate entire refrigerators to beverages. Iced tea leads the charge: 53% of U.S. adults say it is the ideal drink for sipping on the porch, deck or patio, and half say it evokes memories of sunny days outdoors. Among younger adults (18–34), 69% have a fridge reserved just for drinks—and 54% even keep one on their porch or deck for easy access during warm weather.
The survey also finds that 44% of adults believe iced tea makes everyday moments feel more special, while 86% enjoy it while relaxing. Iced tea lovers plan to up their consumption this summer, with 63% of all fans expecting to drink more iced tea and 76% of younger fans planning to increase their intake. Nearly 46% see iced tea as a staple at social or family gatherings, and 43% say it forms a core part of family traditions.
At the top of the refrigerated tea market is Milo’s Tea Company, known for its fresh-brewed, real-ingredient recipes dating back to founder Milo Carlton’s kitchen in 1946. Tricia Wallwork, chair and CEO and Milo’s founder’s granddaughter, said, “Iced tea is more than a beverage—it’s part of those moments that matter with friends and family. We’re proud to celebrate National Iced Tea Month by honoring the big and small moments that make summer feel special.”
To meet growing demand, Milo’s opened its fourth U.S. manufacturing facility in Spartanburg, North Carolina, and plans to brew and ship more than 182 million gallons of iced tea in 2025.
