Taco Bell has announced the launch of the new Cheesy Street Chalupas, a menu item inspired by street tacos and featuring Taco Bell flavors. The Cheesy Street Chalupas, available nationwide starting July 18, offer a fusion of traditional street taco ingredients with Taco Bell’s signature style. This new item features chalupa shells filled with melted mozzarella and pepperjack cheeses, combined with fresh onions, cilantro, and premium proteins such as slow-roasted Cantina chicken or grilled, marinated steak, topped with a creamy Jalapeño Ranch sauce.
The Cheesy Street Chalupas are served as a bundle of two and are priced at $5.49 a la carte. This limited-time offering was tested in October 2023 and will be available while supplies last.
Taco Bell has also announced exclusive deals and offers for customers. From August 1 to August 4, customers can receive one free order of Cheesy Street Chalupas with a delivery order of $25 or more through the Taco Bell App. Additionally, during the Summer of DashPass from July 18 to July 24, DashPass members can enjoy $8 off orders of $25 or more that include a Cheesy Street Chalupa. Starting July 25, the Cheesy Street Chalupas will be available for delivery on DoorDash, Uber Eats, Postmates, and Grubhub for a limited time.
The creation of the Cheesy Street Chalupas draws inspiration from Hispanic and Latino cultural influences and their unique takes on the taco. This new menu item is a nod to the street food culture, combining traditional ingredients with Taco Bell’s innovative approach. The street-sized chalupa shells, stuffed with cheese, were inspired by the Quesalupa shell introduced in 2016. This latest addition aims to bring the flavors of street food to a wider audience through Taco Bell’s menu.
Luis Restrepo, Taco Bell’s Vice President of Product Innovation, highlighted the new flavor profile of the Cheesy Street Chalupas, noting that the fresh onions and cilantro, combined with seasoned premium proteins and layers of cheese, provide a unique and flavorful experience that pays homage to the classic street taco.
