The U.S. Postal Service will commemorate the 50th anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons at the Gen Con Indy 2024 gaming convention. Known as The World’s Greatest Role-Playing Game and a significant cultural phenomenon, Dungeons & Dragons has impacted millions since its debut.

The Postal Service will unveil the commemorative stamps and host related activities and retail sales at two locations. At Lucas Oil Stadium, within the Gen Con Indy convention, retail sales and cancellations of the stamps will be available for the four days of the convention on the west concourse. Entry to Gen Con requires the purchase of a pass, which can be obtained on the Gen Con website. Additionally, the Indianapolis Main Post Office, located at 125 W. South St., will offer retail sales and cancellations on August 1st for those not attending the convention.

Greg Breeding, the art director for the stamps, will be available for autographs at 10 a.m. EDT on Thursday, following the unveiling of the stamps at Lucas Oil Stadium. The news of the stamp release is being shared with the hashtag #DandDStamps.

Dungeons & Dragons, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2024, revolutionized tabletop gaming by introducing a collaborative storytelling experience. Players create open-ended stories guided by books, dice, and their imaginations, taking on roles such as wizards, warriors, and adventurers in fantastical worlds. The game has evolved from a niche pastime in the Midwest to a global phenomenon with an estimated 64 million fans worldwide.

Greg Breeding served as both the art director and designer for the Dungeons & Dragons stamps. These stamps are issued as Forever stamps and will always hold the value of the current First-Class Mail one-ounce rate.
