Paradox Interactive has revealed that the much-anticipated game Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is in development by The Chinese Room, a Sumo Digital studio. The game’s development announcement came during the PAX West keynote, sparking interest among fans of the franchise. The Chinese Room is noted for its award-winning storytelling in first-person titles, making it a strong fit for developing a Vampire: The Masquerade action RPG set in a modern Seattle reimagined for the World of Darkness universe.
Ed Daly, the Studio Director at The Chinese Room, emphasized that the game aligns well with their studio’s expertise in storytelling. Describing Bloodlines 2 as their “most ambitious project to date,” Daly stressed that the game will both honor the legacy of its predecessor and modernize the gameplay. The Chinese Room brings over 15 years of experience to the project, bolstering confidence that the game will meet fan expectations.
Sean Greaney, Vice President of World of Darkness at publisher Paradox Interactive, spoke highly of The Chinese Room’s understanding of and passion for the source material. He assured fans that the game is in good hands and that the studio’s vision aligns well with the goals for Bloodlines 2.
The upcoming game is a sequel to the cult-classic Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines. Set in the dark corners of Seattle, it will allow players to assume the role of an Elder vampire navigating complex politics, interacting with diverse characters, and engaging in combat. One of the challenges in the game will be adhering to the Masquerade, the law of secrecy that keeps vampires hidden from humans.
Fans can expect a gameplay reveal in January 2024, with the game slated for a Fall 2024 launch. The development team and Paradox Interactive seem committed to delivering an experience that resonates with fans of the franchise while also appealing to new players.
