Wendy’s will add a new heat-seeking combo to its menu on June 20, introducing the Takis Fuego Meal in U.S. restaurants with a Canadian launch set for June 30. The limited run features two items built around the fast-food chain’s seasoned Spicy Chicken filet and the rolled corn chips known for their intense chili-lime flavor.
The Takis Fuego Chicken Sandwich layers crushed Takis chips over Wendy’s spicy breaded chicken, then adds chili-lime sauce, a creamy corn spread, and cheddar cheese sauce for extra richness and crunch. The meal also debuts Fuego Fries, which take the chain’s Hot & Crispy Fries and toss them in a tangy chili-lime seasoning. Customers can order the sandwich and fries together or separately; those choosing the full meal receive a snack-size bag of Takis chips while supplies last.
Lindsay Radkoski, Wendy’s U.S. chief marketing officer, said the partnership grew out of consumer interest in bolder flavors and “fresh, famous collaborations.” Barcel USA, maker of Takis, called the project an opportunity to deliver a “spicy, unforgettable experience” that mirrors how fans already sprinkle the chips on a variety of foods.
To promote the launch, Wendy’s is releasing Spice Invasion, a retro-style mobile game available in its app from June 20 through July 20. Players blast virtual menu items with Takis chips to earn points and prizes, including a grand prize of ten thousand dollars.
