Woof, the award-winning pet brand, introduced HonestChew, a plant-powered, ultra-durable dog chew the company says is safer than bones, tougher than nylon, and more natural than traditional synthetic chews. The launch targets a common challenge for dog owners: satisfying a dog’s instinct to chew without resorting to plastic, rawhide, or riskier materials.
HonestChew is made from food-grade plant-based materials blended with powdered antler bone and vegetable broth. It is described as hypoallergenic and free from nylon, petroleum, plastic, and rawhide. The chew is engineered to flake rather than splinter during use, a design intended to help reduce choking hazards associated with traditional bones while offering durability and flavor.
“We created HonestChew to give pet parents a better alternative, one that does not force them to choose between safety, durability, or natural materials,” said Woof founder Daniel Haarburger. He cited internal research indicating that 83 percent of dog parents admit to giving dogs inedible chew toys, often without realizing potential risks. Woof said its product team spent more than a year developing HonestChew to reimagine a category long defined by synthetic materials and splinter-prone bones.
Positioned for moderate to powerful chewers, HonestChew is part of Woof’s broader line of safer chew solutions. The company says the chew encourages natural chewing behavior and mental stimulation, and its nubs and ridges help gently scrape away tartar above the gumline to support fresher breath. A curved shape and paw-grip design aim to promote natural chewing postures and longer-lasting engagement.
