Yakima Chief Hops, known for its innovative approach in the hop industry, has partnered with Indie Hops, based in Oregon, to launch a new product aimed at brewers called Strata HyperBoost. This collaboration represents the first joint effort between the two hop suppliers, merging Indie Hops’ popular Strata hop variety with Yakima Chief Hops’ proprietary HyperBoost formula, which is a flowable hop extract.
According to Ryan Hopkins, CEO of Yakima Chief Hops, this partnership is a natural progression, given Indie Hops’ commitment to developing unique hop varieties that enhance the brewing process. He noted that Indie Hops has a strong history of supporting family-owned farms within the industry. Jim Solberg, CEO of Indie Hops, highlighted the importance of collaboration in the craft brewing sector and expressed optimism about combining their Strata variety with Yakima Chief Hops’ new HyperBoost product.
Strata is known for its distinctive aroma, featuring notes of passion fruit, grapefruit, strawberry, and cannabis, making it a favored choice among contemporary brewers. The HyperBoost formula allows brewers to easily integrate Strata’s flavors into their beer without the need for extensive preparation. It is designed for efficiency, enabling direct application into fermenters.
The development of HyperBoost was driven by feedback from brewers seeking a concentrated hop product that maintains the true characteristics of hops while enhancing flavor and aroma. Users of HyperBoost have reported improved beer yields, with some noting increases of up to 10%. This product can either replace a portion of the traditional hop additions or serve as an enhancement to intensify the overall sensory experience of the beer.
Strata HyperBoost is available in limited quantities in 100g bottles, facilitating easy use for brewers. Additionally, Yakima Chief Hops will offer Strata T90 pellets to further provide access to the unique properties of Strata.
