Limestone Branch Distillery has announced the release of the 2024 edition of Yellowstone Bourbon Limited Edition Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Crafted by Master Distiller Stephen Beam, this year’s edition includes 7-year and 17-year aged bourbons and marks Beam’s first use of a double finish in French brandy and cognac casks. The bourbon is bottled at 101 proof, or 50.5% ABV, and will be available starting in September. The distillery plans to release 10,000 cases, with a suggested retail price of $99.99 per 750mL bottle.
The annual release of Yellowstone Limited Edition began in 2015. For the 2024 edition, Beam selected spirits that would enhance the natural flavors of the aged bourbon. The double finishing process in brandy and cognac casks introduces subtle flavors from distilled grapes, resulting in a more complex and nuanced bourbon. This method aims to create a soft and approachable drink, catering to loyal Yellowstone Bourbon enthusiasts.
The 2024 edition features a rich amber color and an aroma of pear, panela sugar, ripe apple, and leather. It has a thick, soft texture with flavors of American basswood honey, ripe stone fruits, and citrus, complemented by traditional notes of caramel and vanilla. The bourbon finishes with warm notes of honey, Bosc pear, butterscotch, and leather.
Beam expressed his enthusiasm for the 2024 release, highlighting his ongoing experimentation with special finishes. He noted that finished bourbons are increasingly popular among fans looking for unique flavor profiles. The double finish with brandy and cognac casks adds complexity and depth, offering a new experience for consumers.
The 2024 Yellowstone Limited Edition is packaged in custom-designed bottles with embossing, a label featuring the 2024 emblem, and a high-end natural cork.
