Zucker’s Bagels & Smoked Fish has introduced a new retail product: Par Baked Frozen Bagels. This offering allows consumers to enjoy Zucker’s iconic bagels in the comfort of their homes, with the option to finish baking them. The bagels, available in Plain, Sesame, and Everything varieties, can be purchased online through Fresh Direct and Goldbelly, as well as at various tri-state retailers including Butterfield Market, Westside Market, and select ShopRite locations in New Jersey.
The preparation of Zucker’s bagels follows a traditional process that has been refined over nearly twenty years. The recipe utilizes unbromated, unbleached flours, New York City water, and pure malt syrup. The bagels are kettle boiled, seeded, and partially baked before being frozen to preserve freshness. At home, consumers can refresh the frozen bagels with water and bake them in an oven or air fryer for 9 to 14 minutes, resulting in a bagel that is golden brown on the outside and dense on the inside.
Founder Matt Pomerantz expressed that “you no longer need to be in New York City to have the best bagel experience.” He emphasized the quality of the ingredients and the traditional baking methods that have characterized Zucker’s since its inception in Tribeca in 2007.
Additionally, chef Marc Forgione has joined as a partner and ambassador for Zucker’s, bringing his culinary expertise to the brand. He will be introducing a collaborative sandwich at Zucker’s locations this spring. Forgione noted the appeal of a fresh bagel, stating, “Nothing beats a fresh New York City bagel, and a warm and delicious Zucker’s bagel right out of the oven is a must-have experience.”
